Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using The Tavern, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and Code of Conduct. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

2. Who can use The Tavern

You must be at least 13 years old, [or older where local law requires]. The Tavern is online-only for users under 18: they cannot browse, host, join, or convert tables to in-person play, and cannot join or host tables marked 18+. Unlocking in-person features requires confirming you are 18 or older through our identity verification partner; online play never requires identity verification. Misrepresenting your age — or helping anyone else evade an age restriction — is grounds for immediate termination. Parents and guardians are responsible for minors' use of the service. [Counsel: confirm this age-gating model against state minor-safety and parental-consent statutes in launch states; vendor and verification method TBD.]

3. Your account

Keep your information accurate and your credentials secure. One account per person. You are responsible for activity on your account.

4. Your content

You own what you post — listings, messages, maps, bios. You grant The Tavern a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the service. We may remove content that violates our policies.

5. Marketplace and Tavern Gold

• Map creators receive 80% of net sale proceeds after platform-store fees where applicable. Payout schedules and tax documentation are described at seller checkout.
• Tavern Gold is a monthly subscription billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It renews automatically until cancelled in your store settings. Refunds follow the store's policies.
• Finding, applying to, and joining tables is free and always will be.

6. Meeting other users

The Tavern connects people; it does not vet them. We do not run background checks. In-person meetings are at your own risk — follow the safety practices in the Community Guidelines. [Counsel: assumption-of-risk language.]

7. Prohibited use

No violating the Guidelines, scraping the service, reverse engineering, automating accounts, or using The Tavern to advertise unrelated commercial services.

8. Enforcement and termination

We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our policies. You may delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete account.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Tavern is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for the conduct of users on or off the platform. [Counsel: full warranty disclaimer and liability cap.]

10. Disputes

11. Changes

We will notify you of material changes to these Terms in-app or by email. Continued use means acceptance.
